Live event photography brings out the photojournalist in me. In my role as photographer for Capital Community College in Hartford, Connecticut, I had the pleasure of photographing members of the Muslim Student Association as they offered a cultural and informational outreach to other students and faculty about the hijab and women’s rights in Islam in connection with World Hijab Day. Students and faculty were offered the  opportunity to try on a hijab and many took smartphone photos to record the event.

My photography of most live events like this includes capturing the fleeting special moments between participants and spontaneous portraits of participants as well.
